Sewing Tips & Tricks
Ever have visibility problems when doing free motion stitching? Then a spring needle might be your solution. You can use this type of needle without any sewing machine foot at all because the spring acts like a flexible presser foot, lowering and raising as the needle enters the fabric. These needles are not suitable for quilting because there isn’t enough support at the foot, however they give great visibility when doing intricate free motion stitching and embroidery, machine needlelace, and even thread painting when using a hand embroidery hoop. When the needle wears out, simply replace it by pulling the old needle out of the casing and pushing in a new needle. You can also swap it out for a different size needle.
Spring needles can be a little hard to find in stores, however you can purchase them online here at Red Rock Threads.
